My name is Becky Brent and I am writing to introduce myself as new Director of Puzzles Academy Child Development Center.  I have a Bachelors Degree in Marketing and a Masters Degree in Teaching with seven years teaching experience of preschool age through grade five.  As a Mom of three young children, ages twelve, eight, and three, I understand the joys and challenges we face daily as parents.  My career shift after ten years in Marketing came after serving as Vice-President of my son’s PTA for his elementary school.  I discovered my passion for teaching children and feel blessed with my opportunity to develop a lasting relationship with you and your child through Puzzles Academy.

My philosophy of teaching develops not only the academic, but also the social and emotional growth of the child.  It is important to build character and model the ability to make good choices.  I believe our children learn better through a positive, loving environment with a set routine and high expectations.  This learning should develop through hands-on activities, movement, singing, and play to promote a confident child that is eager to participate in the classroom.  Throughout this learning process, our children should be given consistent praise and positive feedback for instant gratification of their achievements.  The classroom should be differentiated to support children learning at varied ability levels, with the teacher able to recognize each child’s gifts and strengths.

My goals for Puzzles Academy will include working with my staff to ensure this positive learning environment that incorporates a full research-based curriculum that will push our children to their full potential and prepare preschool for an easier transition to kindergarten.  Infants and toddlers should feel nurtured and surrounded by resources for exploration and discovery.  Parent-teacher relationships are extremely important to me for child development.  The parent should always feel comfortable to talk with myself and teachers and continuously be kept informed of the challenges and successes of the journey in child development.
